Moufid Aziz doesn't know why he's not part of the heavy- duty promotion plan of Imtiaz Ali's " Rockstar", considering he plays the lead actress Nargis Fakhri's husband (who is portrayed as Ranbir Kapoor's love interest), but the model-turned-actor justifies it as the better judgement of his director.
However, Moufid is happy to talk about "Rockstar", his debut project with such a "big production house" and "big names".Says he, "The promotion details don't go through us, but Imtiaz always likes to have a surprise in his movie and I guess this is that. And anyway, everything in India is about the hero and the heroine." However, Moufid Aziz, or Moufid Abdelaziz Junior, is more than happy with the attention he's getting otherwise. "I've been in India since 2007 and I pay all my taxes here. I've been modelling here for a while now, but I felt I should take the next big step, and that was Bollywood." Once the decision was made, the Brazil-born model then auditioned straight for "Rockstar" and bagged the role.
"When I met Imtiaz for the first time, it was my second audition for "Rockstar". He told me that the way I looked, it was 50% of what he needed. I had the look - I looked Indian, yet a bit of an outsider. But, there was a lot of work to be done around the character. He is a gentleman who is involved in international business ventures. He is the kind of human being who thinks before doing anything and is a family guy. He cares about his mother and his wife ( Nargis Fakhri)," says the model-actor.
Being paired with Nargis was almost like a blessing, says Moufid, adding, "I've done modelling for a few years in places like Germany, Spain, Portugal etc. I've also walked the ramp for Sao Paulo, Barcelona and India Mens Fashion week too. Nargis also was a model like me before she joined movies. She may not be very big right now, but she is a really nice person. We had a lot to talk about - our roots, international exposure, modelling at so many places, etc. We also have a lot of common friends from a few countries, people we've worked together with. So, it was easy to work with her."
