Miss World: India's Kanishtha Dhankhar fails to make it to top 15

New Delhi: India's hopes were dashed early on into the 61st Miss World 2011 pageant as Kanishtha Dhankhar, the country's bet for the crown, failed to make it into the short-list of the top 15 semi-finalists.
The pageant returns this year with all its glitz and glamour. The 61st edition took place in London on Sunday night. 122 contestants from across the world took part in the pageant.
The top 7 finalists are from: Korea, Venezuela, England, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Africa and Scotland.

Priyanka Chopra won the Miss World crown in 2000. Since then no Indian contestant could get the title. India ranks amongst the top 3 nations who have five Miss World crowns to their credit. The other two countries are Venezuela and United Kingdom.
