An offensive joke on actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan cracked by Indo-Canadian stand up comedian Russell Peters in Delhi on Thursday threatened to sour the relationship between actor Akshay Kumar and the Bachchan family. Until Akshay picked up the phone and made peace with Ash’s husband, Abhishek.
Ash’s fans expressed anger online, and Akshay ended up calling Abhishek. “As Russell was his guest, Akshay felt he should say something. Abhishek and he spoke, and Abhishek told him that he did not feel Akshay was at fault in anyway, and that Peters should be the one to apologise,” added a source

Akshay came under attack from outraged fans
last week because it was he who hosted Russell Peters at a publicity
event for his home production Speedy Singhs. Peters poked fun at
Aishwarya’s acting ability, as well as her pregnant status. “What really
angered people was that Akshay did not stand up for Ash when the really
crude and uncalled remark was made by Peters, even though they have
worked together and known each for so long,” said a source.
